gesámt (de) : total, aggregate
atelier (fr) : studio, workshop
GesamtAtelier is founded by Kyriaki Nasioula and Argyris Angeli who collaborate on intermedia performing arts projects. Driven by "gesamtkunstwerk" (total work of art) and "atelier" they early felt the need to create beyond a predetermined title or creative field. Thus, the company's work is characterized by poetic, immersive environments that arise through the interweaving of contemporary dance, visual arts, architecture and design, sound and video, performance art and text, sciences and interactive digital media, among others.
Each work is the result of their innate involvement, through processes of experimentation, rehearsals and workshops in a multi-artist studio who co-create and compose together in real time. Thematically, they are moved by the human identity, relationships and interactions between individuals and the environment, experiences and biomas such as friendship, loss, objectification, fluidity in identity. The projects take life within transitory conditions where bodies, materials and creative media change, transform and evolve in time and space.
